Bioinformatics Analyst (m/f)

Bioinformatics Analyst (m/f)

for a staff function role in unlimited full-time employment at Ares Genetics in Vienna. This position reports to the Managing Director.

What we expect from you...

In your role as Bioinformatics Analyst, you will help to design, create and enhance innovative software solutions for genetic antibiotic resistance and susceptibility testing. You will work closely with international partners to analyze genomics data and implement state-of-the art data processing workflows, bioinformatics pipelines and analytics solutions. You will contribute to the development of intuitive applications and interfaces for clinicians, infectiologists and microbiologists to derive actionable results from high-dimensional sequencing data. You will provide accurate scoping and estimation of software and analytics projects based on product requirements and your profound understanding of the relevant bioinformatics and data science tools. 

What you bring with you…

    • An academic education in Bioinformatics, IT or other related disciplines  
    •  Experience in NGS analysis and methods as well as the computing infrastructure, data management methods and database technologies to support NGS and large-scale data analytics
    • Proficiency in relevant programming and scripting languages, e.g. Python, R
    • Experience with bioinformatics in microbiology
    • Background in software development and IT architecture on Linux systems
    • A self-starter mentality with an independent and reliable way of working
    • An open and communicative mentality
    • The conscious decision to work as a team player in an innovative and dynamic smaller company
    • Business-fluent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of German is an advantage, but not a requirement

          Web Application Developer (m/f)

          What we expect from you...

          In your role as Web Application Developer, you will design and implement responsive web applications. You will actively engage in branding and positioning of the Ares Technology Platform as well as multidisciplinary projects around the Ares Technology Platform. You will work closely with international partners to design, develop and implement state-of-the art interactive data visualizations, dashboards and reports in order to deliver production grade informatics solutions. You will lead application and interface projects for clinicians, infectiologists and microbiologists from creative concept to delivery.

          What you bring with you...

          • An academic education in Computer Science, IT, UX, Web Design, ideally with exposure to life sciences and/or healthcare or a comparable qualification
          • Experience in the planning and execution of web application development projects preferably in healthcare or the life sciences
          • Experience with brand positioning and user engagement
          • Experience in designing and developing client-side software relating to large scale data processing
          • Experience with graphics tools and website design
          • The ability to work in in highly virtual set-ups across different geographies and cultures

              What we expect from you...

              In your role as PhD Student Microbial Bioinformatics, you will design, create and enhance novel approaches and algorithms for the analysis and prediction of genetic antibiotic resistance and susceptibility tests. You will work closely with leading academic partners to develop these advanced bioinformatics approaches for antibiotic resistance prediction from next-generation sequencing data, analyze microbial genomics data and publish your scientific research findings.

              What you bring with you…

              • MSc. in Bioinformatics, IT or other related disciplines
              • Experience with bioinformatics in microbiology
              • Experience in NGS analysis and methods as well as the computing infrastructure, data management methods and database technologies to support NGS and large-scale data analytics

              What we expect from you...

              In your role as Business Alliance Manager you are the primary interface to our partners in the global diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries with a strong focus on China. You coordinate collaborative projects, ensure efficient communication between the project teams on both sides, and manage all aspects of the relationship in line with the contractual obligations and applicable standards with the objective to ensure the best possible outcome of the collaboration.

              What you bring with you...

              • A solid academic education in life science and ideally additional training in project management and/or business administration.
              • 5+ years of experience in business development or related disciplines in a company environment.
              • Chinese language (ideally native speaker).
              • Business-fluent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of German is an advantage, but not a requirement.
